Legends of Teritium

Return to the land of eternal day and eternal night and demonstrate your superior strategy skills. Two teams of six champions battle across the planet to destroy the Krillian Crystal in their enemy's fortress before their crystal is destroyed. It is a battle of survival and dominion, where only the cunning will survive and become a Legend of Teretium!

This is a lore book for a theoretical  multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game in the same world as Teritium, a game from the Pompous Trash Game Jam sponsored by The Society of Play. This game does not exist, only the lore book does right now. I was inspired by the incredible storytelling of the Netflix show "Arcane." And when I discovered it was related to the League of Legends universe, I began to investigate that game more. I have been fascinated by the narrative infrastructure surrounding this highly un-narrative game. From animated shorts, to music videos, to a K-Pop group, to Arcane, Riot games has created an incredible web of characters and relationships and short stories. And none of it effects game play. 

Inspired by this unique narrative structure, I wanted to imitate it in the smallest measure. So, I have imagined a game heavily based on League of Legends, and then I created a lore book with a brief introduction to the game, a couple of champions with their essential statics, and a short story at the end in volving one of the champions. I was not able to finish the story before the end of the jam, but I may come back and finish it. And I'd like to thank Abe Estos for throwing together some new art for me in a matter of hours.
